Hyderabad: Investigators probing the murder of an insurance agent Pallati Ramesh in Nizamabad found that his wife Soumya killed him with the help of lover N Dileep and others for term insurance amount.
The police sources said that Soumya, a private school employee, decided to eliminate Ramesh as he was not only an obstacle in her illicit relationship with Dileep, who was her colleague in the school but also for the term insurance amount of over Rs.30 lakh.
Accordingly, Soumya and Dileep strangled Ramesh to death when he was asleep and later made it appear like a natural death on December 20. She claimed that he had suffered a heart attack and performed the last rites. However, Ramesh’s younger brother, Pallati Kethari, who works as a migrant labourer in Israel, grew suspicious over the sudden death and alerted the Makloor police over the phone.
Based on his complaint, police registered a case and launched a detailed investigation. Acting on the suspicions raised by the brother, the body was exhumed on December 24. In all, the police arrested seven persons including Soumya and Dileep.
