Woman Held after Attempt to Kill Mother-in-Law in Chilkalaguda

The police investigation revealed that there had been long-standing disputes between the accused and the victim regarding ownership of the house

Hyderabad: A 33-year-old woman was arrested by the Chilkalaguda police for trying to kill her mother-in-law in connection with a property dispute at her house on Tuesday.

The police arrested D. Vijayalakshmi (33), who allegedly attempted to murder her mother-in-law, D Padmavathi (57), due to a long-standing family property dispute.

On Tuesday around 9 a.m., while Padmavathi was alone on the first floor of her house in Erukala Basti in Chilkalaguda, Secunderabad, Vijayalakshmi allegedly attacked her with a sharp vegetable-cutting knife.

She allegedly grabbed the victim by the hair, dragged her inside the house, and inflicted serious knife injuries to her neck and fingers with the intention of killing her. Hearing the victim's screams, neighbors rushed to her rescue.

The injured victim was immediately shifted to Gandhi Hospital, where she received emergency medical treatment. The police investigation revealed that there had been long-standing disputes between the accused and the victim regarding ownership of the house. It was believed that the attack occurred as a result of these disputes.

The police booked a case under Section 109 of BNS and arrested Vijayalakshmi.
