Wife, Kith Held for Man’s Murder in KPHB

The police exhumed body in the presence of revenue department officials for an autopsy at the Gandhi hospital mortuary

Hyderabad: KPHB police arrested a woman and her relatives for killing her husband allegedly by electrocution and strangulation, following a fight during a drinking bout. The murder came to light when an autorickshaw driver that the main accused, B. Kavitha, had hired to transport and bury the body of her husband Boina Sailu informed the police.

Police said Kavitha and Sailu had separated after frequent quarrels, and their two children stayed with the Sailu and his parents. Three weeks ago, they moved to Hyderabad; Kavitha worked as a watchwoman in Kukatpally while Sailu took up labour work.

On Friday, Kavitha invited her sister Jyothi and brother-in-law Mallesham to her house. After a quarrel, Sailu fell asleep. The trio then allegedly tied his hands, electrocuted him and then strangled him as electrocution failed to kill him.

Mallesham found an abandoned place to dispose of the body. They wrapped the body in a sack and hired an autorickshaw. When the driver questioned Kavitha about the sack, she claimed it was kitchen waste. He completed the trip and then informed the Miyapur police, who alerted KPHB police. He later showed officers the spot where Kavitha tried to bury the body, said Kukatpally ACP K. Srinivas Rao.

Villages expressed doubts over the family moving to Hyderabad, as Sailu reportedly did not trust Kavitha.

Janaiah, the deceased's father, said, "We grew suspicious when she said that he left home with Rs 50,000 and did not return. The sarpanch, along with relatives, also questioned Kavitha and she repeated the story."

A doctor from a medical institute said that electricity supply in residential spaces ranges from 220 to 240V which is not enough to cause death.
