Woman Dies In Hit-And-Run Case
HYDERABAD: A 38-year-old woman died when a speeding car rammed her two-wheeler from behind and sped away at Nagole on Friday night. Police said the victim, Sapavath Padma, a homemaker from Caneranagar, was returning home after visiting her daughter at a hostel. The car was reportedly being driven at high speed and in a rash manner.
Padma regularly visited her daughter over weekends to deliver home-made food. Her daughter had lost a leg in an accident during childhood. Padma is survived by her husband and two daughters.
Teen Injured By Banned Manja String
HYDERABAD: A 17-year-old Intermediate student suffered serious injuries when a manja string got entangled around his neck while he was travelling as a pillion rider near Keesara on Sunday.
Police said the victim, a second-year student of a college in ECIL and hostel resident, had returned home for the Christmas holiday weekend. He was riding with his brother when the sharp thread suddenly fell on his neck, causing deep cuts and heavy bleeding.
He was rushed to hospital where doctors administered 19 stitches. Doctors said he is out of danger and will recover.
Police said the incident once again highlighted the threat posed by banned Chinese manja threads. Traders and kite-flyers have been cautioned against selling or using such strings.
Techie Killed In Gachibowli Crash
HYDERABAD: A 23-year-old software employee died and another person was injured in a road accident near the IRDAI gate in Gachibowli in the early hours of Friday.
Inspector K. Balaraju said the deceased was identified as Punith Yadav, a resident of a private hostel in Gowlidoddy and native of Warangal.
Police said Punith was riding from the US Consulate side towards the ICICI Bank junction when he allegedly lost control of his motorcycle and rammed into the road divider.
The incident came to light around 1.30 am when the US Consulate’s Quick Response Team alerted police patrol personnel. Officers reached the spot and found the bike damaged.
Punith sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. The 108-ambulance service confirmed his death. The pillion rider, Balaji, suffered minor injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Gachibowli.
Police suspect driving under the influence of alcohol but said the cause would be confirmed after recording Balaji’s statement.
Woman Dies, 6 Hurt In ORR Accident
HYDERABAD: A 31-year-old woman died and six others were injured when their car hit a road divider on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Peddagolkonda in the early hours of Friday. The deceased, Kothagadi Shirisha of Sangareddy, was travelling with her 10-year-old daughter and relatives to a meditation centre in Kadthal.
According to a complaint lodged by her brother Arkathala Mahesh Kumar, an agriculture officer, the accident occurred around 3.30 am. Inspector K. Narender Reddy said the vehicle was allegedly being driven at high speed and in a negligent manner when it hit the divider, throwing Shirisha out of the car. She suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.
Her daughter sustained bleeding injuries to her leg and forehead. Other occupants, Sandhya, Veeramani, Sharada, and Sandhya’s nine-year-old daughter, suffered serious injuries. All were shifted to a private hospital in Shamshabad.
Around 4.50 am, Shirisha’s brother was informed of the incident by police. Based on his complaint, Shamshabad police registered a case and shifted the body to Osmania mortuary for postmortem.
