Woman Dies By Suicide In Chatrinaka

Investigators said she had quit her job last year to care for her children

Hyderabad: A 40-year-old homemaker died by suicide at her residence in Gowlipura under Chatrinaka police station limits on Sunday.

Police said the woman had been married for 15 years and was the mother of two children aged 13 and 7. She reportedly suffered from depression due to prolonged disturbances in her marital life. The couple had lived in the United States, but she returned to Hyderabad about five years ago during the Covid-19 pandemic following marital discord. Though never divorced, she stayed separately and did not return abroad. Family members said she had been undergoing treatment for depression at a private hospital in Malakpet for depression.

Neighbours found her lying in a pool of blood in the apartment premises and alerted the police. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Investigators said she had quit her job last year to care for her children and had been financially dependent on her retired parents’ pension. She was staying with them at the time of her death. Her body was shifted to Osmania Hospital for postmortem and later handed over to her family. Chatrinaka police registered a case of suspicious death and are investigating.
