HYDERABAD: A 50-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Nacharam reportedly after a quarrel. According to Kushaiguda police, the woman was staying along with her husband and three children. The family had shifted to the city years ago to eke out a livelihood.
On the day of the incident, her husband had left for work while she was at home after returning from night shift. She reportedly consumed toddy and allegedly had an argument with her children after which she went into the bedroom and locked the door from inside.
When her husband returned home at night, the children informed him that their mother was not responding despite repeated knocks.
Growing suspicious, the man opened the bedroom window and found her lying unresponsive. With the help of the children, he broke open the door and entered the room but she had already died, police said.
The husband told police that his wife often got distressed and quarrelsome after consuming toddy and that she may have taken the extreme step in a fit of impulsive anger. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and shifted the body for post-mortem examination.
