Hyderabad: Kothur police arrested a 34-year-old woman, Muyyadi Vijaya Laxmi, for allegedly murdering her 14-year-old daughter and attempting to portray it as a suicide, following an argument over mobile phone usage.
The post-mortem examination of the girl revealed 'throttling associated with hanging,' prompting police to investigate the death as a suspected murder. Based on the medical findings and investigation, police altered the case to murder and arrested Laxmi.
According to the police, the mother and daughter frequently argued over the girl’s mobile phone usage. During another argument on Tuesday, the accused allegedly throttled her daughter.
The case was investigated under the supervision of Shadnagar DCP C. Shirisha Raghavendra and Shadnagar ACP P. Laxminarayana. Kothur police station house officer B. Nagarjuna Reddy was part of the investigation team.
