Wildlife in search of water create panic in Adilabad

Two days ago, officials detected a tiger near a local tank, confirmed its search for water, and collected pug marks to track its movements.

Adilabad: Wild animals are venturing toward village outskirts in search of drinking water as rising temperatures take their toll in the erstwhile Adilabad district. A leopard and tiger sighting near Peddadarmaram-Bugggudem in Kannala gram panchayat, Bellampalli mandal, created panic, prompting forest officials to bar devotees from visiting the Bugga Rajeshwaraswamy temple.

Two days ago, officials detected a tiger near a local tank, confirmed its search for water, and collected pug marks to track its movements. The tiger is believed to have come from Darmaram and Kasipet in Tiryani mandal of Mancherial district. Local villagers were alerted to travel in groups, and a nearby private school was advised to keep children within safe confines until the tiger relocated.
Forest officials reported increased animal activity around water bodies due to the high temperatures and warned farmers along the Kannala to Bugggagudem route to remain vigilant at night. With the impending Shivaratri festival expected to draw large crowds to the temple, authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any untoward incidents.
