Hyderabad:BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday declared that the BRS would return to power in Telangana with K. Chandrashekar Rao returning as the chief minister of the state after the next Assembly elections.
Rama Rao also rejected any notion that the BRS would ally with the BJP to which it is ideologically and philosophically opposed, and recalled how the BRS contested the last three Assembly elections on its own.
Public discussions in Telangana, with the people already vexed with the rule by the Congress, were revolving around ‘RRR’ - Recall, Regret and Revolt – with people questioning their decision to vote for the Congress. The widespread dissatisfaction was turning into a revolt against the Congress, Rama Rao said, addressing a private event in Kochi.
He said the BRS was opposed to the Central government’s delimitation proposal, which, if carried out on the basis of population, would result in the southern states losing out. “There are suspicions that the increase in seats was being ignored because the BJP’s political influence was low in the Telugu states. We have no faith in the assurances given by Union home minister Amit Shah that no state would be treated unfairly because of delimitation,” he said.
On Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's remarks about Ram and Shiva, Rama Rao said that if the BJP wanted to divide the country on the basis of religion, the Congress Chief Minister was dividing it on the basis of gods.
