WEF Comes Forward to Partner in Telangana Rising 2047 Vision
Revanth’s follow-up meet offer competes with China, Saudi
Hyderabad: The World Economic Forum (WEF) has expressed its willingness to work closely with the Telangana government in achieving the ambitious goals outlined in the Telangana Rising 2047 vision. This assurance was conveyed during a meeting between Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy-led Telangana Rising delegation and Jeremy Jurgens, managing director of the WEF, along with Manju George, head of strategic impact and integration, C4IR Network, at the Telangana Pavilion during the WEF 2026 in Davos on Thursday.
Revanth Reddy proposed the idea of hosting an annual WEF follow-up forum in Hyderabad during July or August to ensure continuity in discussions and accelerate the implementation of decisions taken at the main WEF event held each January. He noted that in the context of fast-evolving global business cycles, a gap of one year between two major engagements was too long, and a mid-year platform would help maintain momentum and accountability.
Telangana offered to partner with WEF in organising the follow-up forum as a strategic collaborator. Stressing the state’s readiness to host such an event, Revanth Reddy said that Hyderabad could serve as a live demonstration of the opportunities and resources Telangana has to offer, adding that “seeing is believing” when it comes to attracting global partnerships and investments.
Responding positively, Jeremy Jurgens stated that the proposal would be taken forward in the near future, even as he acknowledged that similar offers had been received from several other countries. He pointed out that WEF already conducts a “Summer Davos” annually in China and that there is strong interest from Saudi Arabia as well, indicating that Telangana’s proposal had entered a competitive global space.
During the interaction, the Chief Minister presented the Telangana Rising 2047 vision, which outlines a roadmap to transform the state into a $3 trillion economy. The discussions also reflected on the progress and impact of C4IR Telangana, the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, launched at BioAsia 2024 in Hyderabad.
As WEF’s first thematic centre in India focused on healthcare and life sciences, C4IR Telangana aims to drive health-tech innovation, policy development, and workforce skilling through collaboration with industry and academia.
Jurgens described the launch of C4IR Telangana as a positive role model for WEF’s engagement in India and said that the Chief Minister’s vision opened up multiple avenues for cooperation. He expressed WEF’s interest in partnering with Telangana as part of its long-term transformation journey and highlighted Hyderabad’s strong talent base as a major advantage.
Jurgens also spoke about C4IR’s ongoing research on best practices in industrial cluster planning and offered to share insights and knowledge with C4IR Telangana to support evidence-based development strategies.
IT minister D. Sridhar Babu elaborated on the state’s “CURE, PURE, RARE” economic development strategy and the Bharat Future City project, a net-zero greenfield smart city envisioned as a model for sustainable urban development in India.
The delegation, including revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, highlighted Hyderabad’s strengths in aerospace, defence, bio-design, software and pharmaceuticals.
They outlined the government’s focus on electric vehicle promotion, renewable energy transition and large-scale skilling initiatives through Advanced Technology Centres, the Young India Skills University and the Young India Sports University. Revanth Reddy underlined that skilling and sports development for the youth remained top priorities in shaping Telangana’s future growth trajectory.
