Water Supply Briefly Hit In Parts Of Secretariat

Drinking water supply was briefly disrupted in a few sections of the Telangana secretariat on Monday after private contractors stopped supplying water cans over pending bills. The issue was resolved within hours after general administration department (GAD) officials intervened and assured the contractors that their dues would be cleared in a phased manner before Dasara.

The contractors supply water cans to the secretariat by 9 am every day, which are distributed to various rooms by around 10 am. On Monday, however, the cans were not delivered on time, leading to concerns over a drinking water shortage in the secretariat.

As word spread across the secretariat, GAD officials inspected the rooms on all floors to assess the situation. They found that water cans were missing only in a few rooms on the second and third floors. There was no disruption in water supply on the other floors of the G+6 secretariat building.

Following assurance by the GAD officials regarding pending bills, contractors agreed to resume supplies and water cans were restored by lunchtime.
