Warangal West MLA: Centre Weakening MGNREGS

Raising issues related to state reorganisation, Rajendar Reddy demanded that the Centre honour its long-pending commitments. He reiterated that the railway coach factory promised under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act must be established at Kazipet without further delay.

Warangal: Warangal West MLA Naini Rajendar Reddy on Saturday strongly criticised the BJP-led Central government, accusing it of trying to weaken the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). He was speaking to the media along with District Congress Committee (DCC) president Enagala Venkatram Reddy at a press conference held at the party office in Hanamkonda.

The MLA alleged that stopping funds or renaming welfare schemes amounted to an attack on the livelihoods of rural families. He expressed concern that the halting of rural works had left thousands of poor labourers without income, accusing the BJP of focusing on “renaming politics” instead of addressing real issues.

He further accused the Centre of attempting to dilute key legislations such as the Right to Information (RTI) Act and urged Congress workers to reach out to every village to explain how both the BJP and the BRS had failed the people.

Raising issues related to state reorganisation, Rajendar Reddy demanded that the Centre honour its long-pending commitments. He reiterated that the railway coach factory promised under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act must be established at Kazipet without further delay.

He also questioned the lack of progress on the Mamnoor Airport project, despite the state government allotting the required land to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), and said the continued delay reflected the Centre’s neglect of Telangana’s development needs.

Wardhannapet MLA K. R. Nagaraju, MLC Baswaraju Saraiah, TPCC vice-president B. Prabhakar and TPCC general secretary D. Srinu Babu were among the leaders present at the press meet.
