Warangal CP Inspects Accident-Prone Black Spots On NH-163

WARANGAL: Warangal police commissioner N. Shwetha has directed officials to take coordinated measures to reduce road accidents at identified black spots across the Warangal police commissionerate limits.

The commissioner on Thursday inspected more than 10 accident-prone locations along the Hanamkonda-Hyderabad stretch of National Highway-163. Officials from the police, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), road transport department and excise department accompanied her.

During the inspection, Shwetha reviewed the factors contributing to accidents and discussed corrective measures with officials to improve road safety.

She directed officials to improve lighting at junctions where village approach roads connect with the national highway and at median openings to enhance visibility during night hours.

The commissioner also instructed officials to install additional warning boards, directional signs and reflective signboards at accident-prone locations to alert motorists in advance.

She directed excise department officials to ensure that liquor outlets along the highway provide adequate parking facilities so that parked vehicles do not obstruct traffic or create safety hazards.

During the visit, Shwetha interacted with local public representatives and residents to understand their concerns. Residents of Karunapuram sought the construction of a pedestrian foot overbridge to facilitate safer crossing of the highway.

The commissioner advised national highways officials to examine the proposal and take steps to construct foot overbridges at locations with high pedestrian movement.

She said coordinated efforts by all departments were essential to reduce accidents and improve road safety along the busy highway corridor.
