Warangal Cong MLAs, leaders Demand Action Against Konda Murali

Appearing before the committee in Hyderabad, they told committee chairman Mallu Ravi that Murali was damaging the Congress' image by constantly making adverse remarks against his own party MLAs and leaders.

WARANGAL: Five Congress legislators and leaders from Warangal district on Thursday demanded that the TPCC disciplinary action committee take action against former MLC Konda Murali, husband of minister Konda Surekha, for anti-party activities.

Appearing before the committee in Hyderabad, they told committee chairman Mallu Ravi that Murali was damaging the Congress' image by constantly making adverse remarks against his own party MLAs and leaders.

Present in the delegation were MLAs Kadiyam Srihari, Naini Rajendar Reddy, Revuri Prakash Reddy and K.R. Nagaraju and MLC Basavaraju Saraiah, as well as Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) Enagala Venkatram Reddy and DCC president Errabelli Swarna.

Party sources said that the expressed their frustration and reportedly questioned the committee saying, "It feels insulting just to come before the disciplinary committee. We are the ones who face abuse from the Konda family. Instead of taking action against them for their remarks and damaging the party’s image, you are calling us again, which is insulting. What message does the committee try to send.”

Mallu Ravi tried to persuade them, sources said, explaining that they were called only to seek details regarding their complaints. The MLAs and MLCs firmly conveyed to Mallu Ravi that action must be taken against the Konda family or they should be given a ‘free hand’ to deal with the situation themselves.

Ravi stated that the committee would meet again soon to discuss the MLAs opinions and submit a report to the TPCC, based on which the party leadership is expected to take action.

Ravi reportedly asked Warangal district leaders not to air their views before the media on what transpired in the meeting. Warangal leaders left Gandhi Bhavan later without speaking to the media.

Murali had submitted his explanation to the committee after his controversial remarks targeting other Congress leaders. The intense rivalry led local key leaders of Warangal to file complaints with the party high command, including TPCC chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud and the AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan.
