Waqf Garden View Mall Work To Resume After 15 Years

The building, spread across 3,800 Sq ft, will be leased through e auction to generate revenue for minority welfare: Reports

HYDERABAD: The long‑pending construction of Waqf Garden View Mall at Nampally is set to resume, with the Telangana Waqf Board seeking ₹23 crore from the government to complete works left unfinished for over 15 years.

A foundation for the seven‑storey building near Haj House was laid in 2009, but only pillars and a roof were raised before the project stalled due to lack of funds. Since then, the structure remained unoccupied, with rainwater stagnation in the basement prompting complaints and requiring renovation.

Momentum picked up after Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, during last year’s Haj Camp, directed officials to inspect and complete pending works. Waqf Board CEO Md. Asadullah said the Roads and Buildings department has issued a structural safety certificate. “We have submitted a proposal for ₹23 crore to complete the works,” he said.

The building, spread across 3,800 sq ft, will be leased through e‑auction to generate revenue for minority welfare. A government grant was sanctioned in 2024, but the Board decided tenants should develop interiors as per requirement, member Bandagi Badesha Quadri said. He added that the building may be leased to the hotel industry, with provision to keep it vacant during Haj Camp.

Earlier proposals included housing minority offices and training centres in the complex.
