Voter List Revision Underway In North Telangana Districts

As part of the exercise, officials have taken up a household survey in municipal wards to cross-check voter details: Reports

ADILABAD: District officials in Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts have intensified efforts to revise electoral rolls by removing errors in the existing voter lists, ahead of the upcoming municipal elections.

As part of the exercise, officials have taken up a household survey in municipal wards to cross-check voter details. They are identifying and deleting names of voters from surrounding villages and wards that were erroneously included in municipal voter lists.

The voter lists were reviewed with returning officers and assistant returning officers, and the revision process will be carried out in coordination with booth-level agents and representatives of political parties. Polling booths have been categorised to ensure systematic verification.

Komaram Bheem Asifabad district collector Venkatesh Dhotre directed officials of Kagaznagar and Asifabad municipalities to take voter mapping seriously and conduct ward-wise, door-to-door verification as part of the revision.

He said names of deceased voters and those who have migrated to other places would be removed strictly in accordance with guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India, after issuing notices under Form 8. Officials have already begun the voter list revision process in Asifabad and Kagaznagar municipalities.
