Vote BJP In Vemulawada For Central Funds: Bandi

He criticised both the ruling Congress and the Opposition BRS, questioning their credibility in seeking votes: Reports

KARIMNAGAR: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday said the Centre would extend substantial financial support for the development of Vemulawada if the BJP was voted to power in the municipality.

Addressing an election campaign meeting in Vemulawada in Rajanna Sircilla district, Sanjay Kumar said that if people entrusted the municipality to the BJP, he would personally ensure the flow of Central funds for comprehensive development of the temple town.

He criticised both the ruling Congress and the Opposition BRS, questioning their credibility in seeking votes. He alleged that the Congress government in the state was financially strained and had failed to implement its six guarantees, including financial assistance for women and pensions for senior citizens.

Targeting the BRS, the union minister said the party was beyond revival and alleged that its decade-long rule had caused hardship to the people. He also accused the previous government of neglecting the interests of the town and its presiding deity, Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy.

Sanjay Kumar raised concerns over the law-and-order situation in the town, alleging intimidation of BJP workers by the local MLA Adi Srinivas and certain police officials. He warned the police against acting under political influence and said continued harassment would compel him to bring the state DGP and SP to Vemulawada to ensure a fair election. He specifically referred to the alleged conduct of the Sircilla circle inspector and sought removal of biased officials from election duties.

Highlighting Central assistance, he referred to funds released under the 14th and 15th Finance Commissions, the AMRUT scheme and the PM SVA Nidhi programme. He accused the state government of diverting Central funds and alleged that temple construction was carried out without adhering to ‘Agama Shastra’, replacing traditional stone structures with concrete.

The union minister appealed to voters to support the BJP by voting for the Lotus symbol on February 11, stating that electing a BJP municipal chairman would facilitate better coordination between local requirements and Central assistance released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
