Vivek Kicks Up Political Controversy

Says "I may lose the next election... our government may go."

Hyderabad:Labour minister Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy's remarks that there was no guarantee that he would remain a minister or that the Congress government would return to power have triggered a political controversy. The minister made these remarks during an interaction with protesting students at the Government Polytechnic, Masab Tank, on Friday, after they sought a written assurance on his promises.

Responding to their demand, Vivek referred to the uncertainty in politics and said any assurance given by him might not hold in the future as he could lose his seat and the Congress could be voted out in the next Assembly elections.

"I may lose the next election... our government may go," he exclaimed, emphasising that he could not guarantee anything. A video clip of the interaction circulated on social media platforms, including X and Instagram. Opposition parties, including the BRS, cited the statement to claim that it reflected weakness within the ruling Congress and a loss of its public mandate in Telangana.
