R.B. Choudary was like a godly figure: Producer N V Prasad

Hyderabad: Veteran producer R. B. Choudary has passed away following severe injuries sustained in a car crash in Udaipur. The exact cause of the accident and the condition of others involved remain unclear.
A towering figure in South Indian cinema, Choudary began his production journey in 1988 under his banner Super Good Films. His first Tamil production, Pudhu Vasantham, directed by Vikraman, earned him the Tamil Nadu State Film Award. He also backed K. S. Ravikumar's directorial debut, Puriyada Pudir.
Over the decades, he produced several successful films, including Cheran Pandiyan, Nattamai, Poove Unakkaga, Suryavamsam, Thullatha Manamum Thullum, Aanandham, Jilla, Godfather, and, most recently, Maareesan.
Choudary also made a significant mark in Telugu cinema, delivering blockbusters with leading stars like Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh Daggubati, and Srikanth. His Telugu successes include films such as Sooryavamsam, Raaja, Nuvvu Vasthavani, Sneham Kosam, and Pandaga.
Veteran producer N. V. Prasad, who co-produced Godfather with Chiranjeevi, in 2022, expressed deep grief over Choudary’s demise.“He was like a Godly figure for us. He was the most disciplined producer I have seen—extremely committed and dedicated. Working with a legend like him was a great experience, and I cherish every moment spent with him,” Prasad said.
He further added, “More than budgets, he was highly professional. and committed. He had a great knack for identifying strong scripts, and most of his films turned out to be blockbusters in both Tamil and Telugu. He also successfully remade several films since he believed a good script overruled other things."
Calling him a towering personality in Indian cinema, Prasad said he was deeply shocked by the loss. “No words can express my grief. He will remain one of the most prominent and successful producers in Indian cinema,” he concluded.
