The tourism department is carrying out beautification of the temple tank, including plans to introduce boating facilities.

Adilabad: Vemulawada town and the Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple are being developed as a temple city and spiritual tourism hub in Rajanna Sircilla district.

Development works are under way through the Vemulawada Temple Area Development Authority, with projects worth ₹150 crore nearing completion. As part of the initiative, a 40-foot Lord Shiva statue and statues of Saptamatrikas have been installed in a park developed along the temple tank bund. A boating facility is also being planned in the tank.

Officials said the park is expected to attract devotees and families visiting the temple. The state government is undertaking the works to draw pilgrims and tourists from across the country.

Infrastructure upgrades include construction of five three-lane bridges, each measuring 38 feet in length and 12 feet in width, to ease traffic movement. Pedestrian access within the temple town is also being improved.

Vemulawada MLA and Government Whip Adi Srinivas told Deccan Chronicle that the town was being developed as a spiritual hub centred around the temple. He said works worth Rs 150 crore were progressing and added that the government planned to spend nearly Rs 1,000 crore on the overall development of the town and temple.

He alleged that the previous BRS government had neglected development of the town and temple.

Officials said an 80-foot road was being laid from the temple to Thippapur bridge, with a central lighting system planned.

Rajanna Sircilla collector Garima Agarwal recently reviewed the works and directed officials to expedite execution, stating that the projects would soon be inaugurated for public use.

A devotee, K. Pradeep Kumar from Karimnagar, said the newly installed statues were attractive and expressed hope that facilities for devotees would improve further.
