Vemulawada to Transform into Temple City: Congress MLA

The project will be taken up at an estimated cost of ₹3.44 crore.

Karimnagar: With the aim of transforming Vemulawada into a ‘Temple City’, the Congress government is taking all necessary measures and formulating plans for the parallel development of both Vemulawada town and the renowned Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple, said Government Whip and MLA Aadi Srinivas.

Accompanied by temple executive officer Radha Bhai, the MLA laid the foundation stone for the development of Bheemeshwara Alayam at Vemulawada in Rajanna Sircilla district on Sunday. The project will be taken up at an estimated cost of ₹3.44 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, Aadi Srinivas stated that the Bheemeshwara Temple, historically considered an adjacent and supporting shrine to the Rajanna Temple, is now being modernised. The development includes construction of queue lines, Abhishek Mandapams, and Kalyana Mandapams to improve the experience of visiting devotees.

The expansion and development plans are being carried out in consultation with the Peetadhipathi of Sringeri Peetam and the temple preservation committee, following both traditional and scientific guidelines while also incorporating feedback from the local community.

Tenders have been finalised for a ₹35 crore Annadanam Satram, along with ₹76 crore worth of development works at the Rajanna Temple. Ongoing projects worth ₹150 crore are expected to be completed soon. Additional funds will be allocated in the upcoming budget to support the phased development of the Rajanna Temple, he added.
