Huge Rush at Basara Saraswathi Temple on Vasantha Panchami
A large number of parents brought their children to perform the traditional Aksharabhyasam (initiation into learning). Temple priests conducted the ritual for children in the presence of the Goddess.

Nirmal: Vasantha Panchami celebrations are underway in a grand manner at the famous Basara Saraswathi Temple in Nirmal district. Devotees began arriving at the temple from the early hours of Friday to seek the blessings of Goddess Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devi, leading to heavy rush and long queues.
A large number of parents brought their children to perform the traditional Aksharabhyasam (initiation into learning). Temple priests conducted the ritual for children in the presence of the Goddess.
On the occasion of Vasantha Panchami, the temple was beautifully decorated. Special rituals began at 1.30 am with Suprabhata Seva, Mangala Vaidya Seva and Abhishekam for Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devi, Mahalakshmi and Mahakali. District Collector Abhilasha Abhinav visited the temple in the early morning and offered special prayers.
Devotees from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu arrived in large numbers to offer prayers. To ensure smooth arrangements and avoid inconvenience to devotees, Temple EO Anjanadevi, CI Kiran and SI Navaneeth Reddy supervised the arrangements. Milk and biscuits were distributed to devotees on behalf of the temple authorities.
It is taking nearly three hours for devotees to have darshan of the Goddess amid the heavy rush.
