VAHAN Portal Handles 89K Registrations in Telangana
Officials said approval rates and processing efficiency have improved in recent days, indicating stabilisation of the system
Hyderabad: The transport department has processed 89,392 temporary vehicle registrations through the VAHAN portal developed by the National Informatics Centre as of last Saturday. The department said 3,223 online reservations or auctions for fancy numbers were also completed through the system.
A total of 79,095 vehicles have been allotted permanent registration numbers so far, accounting for 88.5 per cent. After allotment, dealers are required to procure high-security registration plates (HSRP), affix them to vehicles and upload photographs on the VAHAN portal to enable printing of registration certificates.
The VAHAN system is being implemented in phases across the state to streamline and digitise vehicle-related services while ensuring system stability and continuity of public services.
Officials said approval rates and processing efficiency have improved in recent days, indicating stabilisation of the system. Pendency at verification and inspection levels is being reduced through monitoring and daily reviews, with pending applications brought down to fewer than 25 at each stage.
