Uttam Launches His Campaign in Tamil Nadu

In a pointed attack on the BJP-AIADMK alliance, Uttam Kumar Reddy declared that the two parties were competing to attack the secular fabric of Tamil Nadu.

Hyderabad:Irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy appealed to Tamil Nadu voters to beat back the BJP’s attempts to make inroads into the state in the elections on April 23. Campaigning in Singanallur constituency near Coimbatore on Monday, on first day of his campaign in Tamil Nadu, the minister, flanked by local Congress and DMK workers, addressed a packed public meeting.

In a pointed attack on the BJP-AIADMK alliance, Uttam Kumar Reddy declared that the two parties were competing to attack the secular fabric of Tamil Nadu. “BJP should not be allowed into the state,” he said, while warning that any foothold gained by the saffron party would undermine the state’s progressive ethos.

Uttam Kumar Reddy made a special mention of the DMK cadres, thanking them for their cooperation, coordination and seamless teamwork on several key issues. He reiterated the DMK-Congress alliance’s ambitious election promises, urging voters to judge the alliance on its commitment to deliver tangible welfare . The minister reiterated that the promises would be fulfilled without fail.

He said the DMK-Congress alliance would take up recruit of 10,000 women and they would be inducted into the state police forces strengthening law enforcement and women’s empowerment.
