USPC to Stage Protests at Telangana Collectorates on Oct 10 Demanding CEC Gyanesh Kumar's Resignation
The committee alleged that the SIR exercise was leading to the removal of voters from electoral rolls on a large scale and demanded that the process be scrapped.

Hyderabad:The Upadhyaya Sanghala Porata Committee (USPC) will organise protest rallies outside collectorates across Telangana on October 10 demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, cancellation of the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll and repeal of the 2023 law governing the appointment of Election Commissioners.
The teachers’ organisation announced its support for the nationwide movement to “protect democracy” and maintain the proper functioning of the electoral system. Its steering committee members said demonstrations and rallies would take place at district headquarters across the state as part of the protests.
The committee alleged that the SIR exercise was leading to the removal of voters from electoral rolls on a large scale and demanded that the process be scrapped.
It also sought the repeal of the Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Act, 2023, which governs appointments to the Election Commission. The steering committee said the protests were part of its support for the nationwide movement concerning the electoral system.
