US Offers $3,000 And Flight Ticket For Self-Deporting
US homeland security secretary Kristi Noem said that around 1.9 million people have voluntarily left the United States since January 2025, and tens of thousands have used the CBP Home programme: Reports

HYDERABAD: The US department of homeland security (DHS) has announced a temporary increase in the money offered to illegal residents in the United States, who voluntarily leave the country using the CBP Home mobile app. Under the special holiday offer, individuals who sign up to self-deport by December 31 will receive $3,000, along with a free flight back to their home country.
Earlier, those using the CBP Home app were given $1,000. The $3,000 offer is valid only until the end of this year.
US homeland security secretary Kristi Noem said that around 1.9 million people have voluntarily left the United States since January 2025, and tens of thousands have used the CBP Home programme.
“Illegal aliens should take advantage of this gift and self-deport because if they don’t, we will find them, we will arrest them, and they will never return”, Kristi said in a statement.
“Illegal aliens” are people who entered the United States without permission, people who are overstaying a visa, or those who violated visa conditions like working while on a student visa or remaining in the country after a tourist or student or work visa expired.
According to DHS, people who self-deport through the app will also receive forgiveness of civil fines or penalties for overstaying or failing to leave earlier. Applicants have to provide personal details and documents, and the government through the CPB app will arrange and pay for travel.
Officials say there is a major difference between voluntary self-deportation and forced deportation. If authorities deport an individual, they may face a long-term or permanent ban on returning to the US, along with detention before removal. In contrast, DHS stated that those who leave voluntarily may have better chances of applying legally in the future, depending on their case. DHS has made it clear that the $3,000 offer will end on December 31, after which standard enforcement actions will continue.
