Urban X Challenge Ideathon 2026 Launched: Calling All College Students to Redefine India’s Cities
Winners of the Urban X Challenge Ideathon will receive cash prizes, certificates, mentorship opportunities, and potential incubation support to further develop their ideas into real-world applications.

Hyderabad:The Urban Innovation and Incubation Centre of the National Institute of Urban Management and the government’s municipal administration department on Monday announced the launch of Urban X Challenge Ideathon 2026 to encourage college students to develop innovative solutions to pressing urban challenges.
The applicant should be a college student, undergraduate or PG, across India, including start-ups. Themes are urban innovation, sustainability, smart cities, mobility, governance. Dr T.K. Sreedevi, Director General, NIUM, and principal secretary, municipal administration, launched the poster for the Urban X Challenge Ideathon on Monday.
The last date for idea submission is May 20 and for details and registration the website is https://www.nium.org.in/ According to a statement, the Ideathon is a platform designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving among youth by inviting ideas that can transform cities into more sustainable, inclusive, and technologically advanced urban spaces.
The event will be conducted in multiple stages, including idea submission, screening, mentoring, and final presentations before an expert jury panel. Shortlisted teams will receive guidance from industry experts, academicians, and urban practitioners to refine their ideas into impactful solutions.
