Uproar in House Over ‘RR Rule Book’ Comments by BJP Floor Leader

Hyderabad: The Telangana Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes on Wednesday after BJP floor leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy questioned the suspension of BRS MLAs for the remainder of the session and asked whether a “Revanth Reddy rule book” had been followed in taking the decision.
The treasury benches objected to Maheshwar Reddy referring to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy without an honorific and termed it disrespectful.
Speaking in the House, Maheshwar Reddy questioned the suspension of BRS MLAs, particularly those who were not present in the Assembly on September 7 when the alleged disruptions occurred. He asked the Speaker under what rule members who were absent could be suspended.
“It is painful that even those who were not present in the house were also suspended. Is there any rule book or have you adopted something from the Revanth Reddy rule book?” he asked, triggering uproar in the House.
Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar intervened over the remarks and asked Maheshwar Reddy to change his attitude.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, D. Sridhar Babu and Seethakka also intervened, urging the BJP floor leader to maintain decorum and requesting the Speaker to expunge the remarks from the records. Amid the uproar, the Speaker expunged them from the records.
The BJP, which has been pressing the Speaker for a discussion on 22A prohibited lands and other issues, continued to raise the demand on the third day of the monsoon session.
Led by Maheshwar Reddy, BJP MLAs raised slogans and demonstrated near the well of the House while holding placards. As the proceedings continued, the BJP MLAs demonstrated for some time before staging a walkout after the Speaker did not concede their demands.
