UoH, Unicef, Ashoka varsity join to fight nutrition woes

Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad (UoH) partnered with Unicef and the Centre for Social and Behaviour Change (CSBC) at Ashoka University to address social issues like nutrition, education, and immunisation through Behavioural Insights-driven projects.

During a two-day workshop, "Defining and Designing Behavioural Solutions for Improving Complementary Feeding," Dr Zelalem Taffesse of Unicef-India stressed the need for habitual good nutrition. The workshop, attended by around 25 representatives from various organisations, focused on promoting complementary feeding practices for children aged 0-2 years in Telangana’s Adilabad, Kamareddy, and Gadwal districts.
Preliminary prototypes to encourage better nutrition practices, such as increased consumption of fruits and vegetables and appropriate complementary feeding, were developed for field testing. The workshop was organised by the newly established Behavioural Insights Unit at UoH, led by Professors Vasuki Belavadi and Usha Raman, with support from Unicef and CSBC.
