Hyderabad: A student at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) allegedly died by suicide after reportedly facing assault and public humiliation by activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, according to police.
Mayukh Kundu, a first-year financial economics student from West Bengal, was found dead in the campus Buffalo Lake on Tuesday morning after reportedly going missing a day earlier. Authorities recovered a suicide note from his hostel room, which led them to the lake.
The incident took place after Mayukh was accused of stealing a laptop of an intern staying at F-hostel. He allegedly admitted to the theft and handed over his own laptop as compensation. The university has not responded to the allegations.
