Universities Pave Way for Future Generations: Governor
The second convocation of Telangana University was held Wednesday on the Dichpally campus

NIZAMABAD: Governor Jishnu Dev Varma said university convocations pave the way for future generations by providing quality technical education and employment opportunities. “Convocations not only mark academic achievements but also benefit society,” he added, praising Telangana University for its strong foundation and stellar results.
The second convocation of Telangana University was held Wednesday on the Dichpally campus. As Chancellor, Governor Varma served as chief guest. He arrived at the 7th TGSP Battalion, where he received a guard of honour. District collector T. Vinay Krishna Reddy and Police Commissioner P. Sai Chaitanya welcomed him.
At the ceremony, the Governor noted that Telangana University embodies the aspirations of local communities. “Founded in 2008 with six courses, the university now offers 31 courses across its Dichpally, Sarangapur, and Bhiknoor campuses,” he said.
Citing the 2023–24 state finance survey, Varma said 51 per cent of graduates are receiving expert-level employment. Quoting Dr S. Radhakrishnan and the Kothari Commission, he emphasised that the ultimate goal of education is to foster creativity and resilience in the face of natural calamities. “The nation’s future is decided in the classroom,” he added.
Former CSIR director S. Chandrasekhar and vice-chancellor T. Yadagiri Rao also spoke. Rajya Sabha member K.R. Suresh Reddy and MLAs Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta, Paidi Rakesh Reddy, P. Sudarshan Reddy, and R. Bhupathi Reddy were among the dignitaries present. The Governor conferred PhD pattas to research scholars and awarded gold medals to top students.
Later, Governor Varma met prominent writers, poets, and artists at the District Integrated Offices Complex in Nizamabad, including Everest climber Malavath Poorna, international footballer Guguloth Soumya, and Sahitya Akademi awardee Ramesh Karthika Naik. He also reviewed the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan programme at the collectorate.
