Union Informs HC Finland Student Missing Case Transferred to That Nation’s Premier Investigative Agency

The petitioners requested the court to ensure that the Centre extended all necessary diplomatic and consular assistance in view of the exceptional humanitarian circumstances arising from Manideep Reddy's disappearance. The court adjourned the matter for 10 days.

Hyderabad: The Centre on Thursday informed the Telangana High Court that investigation into the disappearance of Hyderabad student Gujja Manideep Reddy in Finland had been transferred from the local Finnish police to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Finland's premier investigative agency.

Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy was hearing a writ petition filed by Manideep Reddy's parents, who alleged inadequate action by the Finnish authorities in tracing their son who has been missing for nearly two months.

Counsel for the Centre informed the court that the Indian authorities had been closely coordinating with their Finnish counterparts. She submitted that a nodal officer had been appointed to remain in constant touch with Manideep Reddy's family and had been regularly updating them on the progress of the investigation. She informed the court that the Finnish police had handed over the probe to the National Bureau of Investigation.

The petitioners requested the court to ensure that the Centre extended all necessary diplomatic and consular assistance in view of the exceptional humanitarian circumstances arising from Manideep Reddy's disappearance. The court adjourned the matter for 10 days.
