Unhygienic Conditions Detected at Groceries Warehouse in Kompally

Officials collected samples of chicken and fish on suspicion of adulteration for testing

Hyderabad: Officials of Telangana Food Safety wing found pigeon droppings and cobwebs found in the warehouse of supermarket grocery stores supplies private limited (Big Basket Warehouse) at Kompally.

A flying squad visited the store and found that the warehouse is operating 22 transport vehicles, but the license does not include transport in any kind of business. Unhygienic and rusty transport vehicles violating Schedule 4 transport conditions were detected, according to a post by the Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana on ‘X’.

The officials also detected unclean vegetables and unsafe handling. They collected samples of chicken and fish on suspicion of adulteration or contamination for testing. Sample of institutional tamarind packed by Raja Rajeshwari Food Processors has been lifted for analysis as the label appeared tampered, with suspicion of expiry and re-labelling.
