Cosmetic products allegedly imported from Pakistan into India without required authorisation/registration, and valued at Rs seven lakh were seized here, police said on Thursday.

Hyderabad: Cosmetic products allegedly imported from Pakistan into India without required authorisation/registration, and valued at Rs seven lakh, were seized here, police said on Thursday. Cases were registered against five persons for their "unauthorised sale."

On receiving credible information regarding sale and distribution of unauthorised cosmetic products suspected to have been imported from Pakistan, police conducted a raid and inspection in coordination with the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) at shops here on September 30, a release from Hyderabad Police said.
During the raid, officials of the CDSCO Zonal Office, Hyderabad, reported that the cosmetic products found at the premises were among the unauthorised/banned ones identified in the CDSCO/DCGI Public Notice dated September 8, 2026 and that the products had not been issued the required Registration Certificate for import into India by the competent authority, it said.
The products included beauty creams and soaps marketed for skin-whitening purposes, which were found to be manufactured in Pakistan and allegedly imported into India without the required authorisation/registration, it further said.
During the preliminary enquiry, it emerged that the cosmetic products were being procured through a Mumbai-based dealer/supplier, who is suspected of receiving or arranging the products from outside India and supplying them to dealers in Hyderabad.
It was further revealed that the local sellers were not maintaining proper purchase bills/invoices or supporting documents relating to procurement of the Pakistan-origin cosmetic products and were found to be allegedly selling the products.
The approximate value of the cosmetic products identified during the inspection/verification was Rs seven lakh and they were seized. Two cases were registered against five persons under relevant sections of BNS and Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.

Among the seized brands, Goree, Chandni, Faiz, Navia, Golden Pearl, and Sadaf, many were reportedly manufactured in Pakistan. According to CDSCO, some products contained dangerous levels of heavy metals, posing serious health risks.

Investigation is underway to identify the Mumbai-based supplier/dealer and other persons involved in the supply chain, tracing the source and mode of import of the cosmetic products, and verifying the purchase bills, invoices and transportation records, police added.
