Yadagirigutta Sri Lakshminarsimha Swamy — DC File
Nalgonda: The executive officer of Yadagirigutta Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Bhavani Shanker, on Saturday issued suspension orders against junior assistant P. Ramachandrasekhar and record assistant T. Lakshmi, holding them responsible for the disappearance of gold and silver coins (dollars) worth ₹10 lakh from the temple’s publicity wing.
He also issued charge memos to supervisors K. Nataraju and K. Sitaramacharyulu for alleged lapses in verification and supervision of records and the sale of the coins.
The action followed an audit report that flagged the missing gold and silver coins. A departmental inquiry has been initiated to determine whether the coins were stolen by employees or whether sale proceeds were deliberately not recorded to misappropriate funds. Temple authorities are also examining CCTV footage to identify those involved.
It is learnt that the executive officer will file a police complaint once responsibility for the missing coins is fixed. A detailed report has also been submitted to senior officials of the endowments department.
The executive officer said steps were being taken to tighten security and strengthen checks at sensitive locations, including the temple kitchen, darshan ticket counters and prasadam sale counters, to prevent irregularities.
In the wake of the incident, Hindu organisations have demanded the creation of a dedicated vigilance wing for the temple, on the lines of the system in place at the Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple.
