AP girl student tops female rankers in south zone

Hyderabad: Two students from Hyderabad secured ranks in the top five in the JEE Advanced results announced by IIT Roorkee on Monday. Mohit Shekhar Shukla secured an all-India rank 4 and emerged as the Telangana topper. He was also the topper in the IIT Madras zone, which covers Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. Another student, Kuchi Sandeep, secured an all-India rank of 5.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Mohit Shekhar said he always wanted to secure a single-digit rank, and his hard work has paid off. "I expected a good rank, and I am happy with it,” he said.
Mohit is now planning to join the IIT Bombay and pursue computer science and engineering, following his elder brother, who is already studying at the same institute. He said he studied for around nine hours daily and aimed to get into an IIT since childhood.
"Initially, it took some time for me to score well and over time it improved as I corrected my mistakes," said Mohit, whose parents work with Isro. Apart from using Google for studies, Mohit said he never used social media during the preparation.
Another topper Sandeep's sole goal for the past three years has been to crack the JEE Advanced. “I used to prepare for 8-10 hours and managed stress by playing video games and sports. Since I have secured a good rank, aiming to get into IIT Bombay and pursue computer science and engineering." he shared.
Mohit didn’t appear for Telangana’s Eapcet, while Sandeep secured the 15th rank.
Two Andhra Pradesh students — Medisetti Naga Saharsha and Veldurthi Harshith — secured AIR 9 and AIR 15, respectively. Korukonda Sravya emerged as the female topper in the IIT-Madras zone.
According to the information released by the IIT Roorkee, Shubham Kumar of the IIT Delhi zone, who obtained 330 out of 360 marks, bagged the AIR 1.
