Shankarpally police arrested two members of an alleged burglary gang accused of targeting locked houses and commercial establishments across several areas and confessing to 11 thefts.
Shankarpally police arrested two persons involved in a series of burglaries targeting locked houses and commercial shutters in Shankarpally, BDL Bhanur, Gajwel and surrounding areas over the past six months. The accused confessed to 11 thefts, while four others remain absconding.
The arrested were identified as Vishal Bhagwat Shinde, a labourer from Solapur district, Maharashtra, and Krishna Dandekar Bhonsle, an agricultural worker from Jalna district, Maharashtra. The absconding accused were named as Shivaji Bhonsle, Rahul Vijay Pawar, Rahul’s father‑in‑law and Jamuna.
Police said the gang surveyed villages during the day, with women and children identifying houses where residents were away. At night, the male members approached the houses on foot through fields and bushes, sometimes using motorcycles. Wearing masks and gloves, they broke locks and cupboards with iron rods, stealing ornaments, cash and valuables. They carried sickle‑like weapons to threaten anyone who resisted.
Police recovered ₹5,000 cash, half a tola of gold and an iron rod from the arrested. Teams are working to apprehend the absconding accused and recover property linked to other cases. Residents were advised to secure homes, avoid keeping large amounts of cash or valuables, and alert police about suspicious persons or vehicles.
