Nizamabad: The Turmeric value chain summit 2025 – Innovation and Opportunities in Turmeric for Viksit Bharat 2047 was organized at The Park Hotel in Hyderabad. The event was attended by agriculture minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao, Turmeric Board chairman Palle Gangareddy, state farmer commission member Gadugu Gangadhar, agriculture department secretary Surendra Mohan, Turmeric Board secretary Bhavani Sri, former VC Praveen Rao, officials, traders, and turmeric farmers.
Speaking at the meeting, Gadugu Gangadhar said that turmeric is a traditional crop and protecting turmeric cultivation is everyone’s responsibility. Central government set up a Turmeric Board in Telangana, providing a minimum support price would make it truly beneficial for farmers, he said.
Turmeric is used in auspicious ceremonies in every household and useful as an antibiotic, he said. During the COVID period, many people saved their lives by using turmeric, he said. Turmeric cultivation should increase in the state, and farmers should benefit, he said.
If farmers face any problems, the Farmer Commission will stand by them, Gadugu Gangadhar said. When 660 tribal farmers in Mulugu suffered losses after producing seeds, we ensured compensation of ₹4 crore, he said.
