Tummala Seeks Speedy Munneru Wall Works

Tummala directed that the entire project be completed by March 2027.

Nalgonda: Agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Sunday directed officials to expedite construction of the Munneru retaining wall in Khammam to mitigate flood risks.

Inspecting the works, he said residents in low-lying and catchment areas had faced hardships over the past two years due to flooding of the Munneru stream. The government had taken up the retaining wall project at an estimated cost of ₹690 crore to address the issue.

The minister said land acquisition for about 240 metres was pending and instructed officials to complete works on both sides of the stream — from the bypass road to the cable bridge — by June.

He directed that the entire project be completed by March 2027.
