Tummala Assures Support to Farmers Hit by Cyclone Murasu
Minister orders officials to prepare a comprehensive report on flood damage for submission to the Telangana Chief Minister

Aswaraopet, Warangal: Agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has assured farmers, who suffered crop losses due to heavy rains and flash floods triggered by cyclone Murasu, that the state government would extend all possible assistance to them. On Friday, the minister inspected the breach at Ankamman Cheruvu in Aswaraopet mandal of Bhadradri-Kothagudem district. Following the inspection, Nageswara Rao said heavy inflows due to the heavy cyclonic rains into Ankamman Cheruvu had caused the breach. The breach led to inundation of paddy fields and horticultural crops downstream, causing extensive losses to farmers. Heavy rains also caused streams and rivulets to overflow, triggering flash floods. Several roads have suffered extensive damage, the minister said. He directed officials to prepare a comprehensive report by Friday evening, detailing crop losses, damage to roads, and the condition of tanks. Nageswara Rao said the report would be submitted to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and steps would be taken to provide assistance to the affected farmers. According to him, palm farmers escaped significant damage. He underlined that oil palm cultivation is providing support to farmers despite heavy rains or deficient rainfall. Those who accompanied the minister included area MLA Adinarayana Jare and Aswaraopet municipal chairperson Jupalli Ramesh, among others.
