KARIMNAGAR: Karimnagar district in-charge minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao urged party leaders to mobilise 500 workers from each division to ensure the success of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s public meeting, scheduled to be held on February 5 at Choppadandi.
Ahead of the municipal elections, the Congress held an emergency meeting of its corporator candidates for the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation (KMC) at the DCC office in Karimnagar on Wednesday, under the leadership of City Congress president Anjan Kumar.
The meeting focused on grassroots mobilisation and preparations for the Chief Minister’s public meeting. Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Tummala Nageshwara Rao said the ticket selection was strictly merit-based, free from financial influence or external lobbying. He said 63 candidates were finalised across 66 divisions from over 340 applicants, and assured those who missed tickets that they would be considered for nominated posts in bodies such as SUDA, Zilla Parishad and libraries.
The minister recalled Karimnagar’s political legacy, citing former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, and urged candidates to take the campaign to the ground level by meeting every voter in their wards. A victory in the Karimnagar Corporation, he said, would strengthen the party’s morale and serve as a major endorsement of the state government.
Karimnagar Assembly in-charge Velichala Rajender Rao and other senior leaders stressed the importance of the Chief Minister’s public meeting and reiterated the target of 500 workers per division. They said the government’s development agenda must reach every household.
Prominent leaders present included Kavvampally Satyanarayana, Naini Rajendar Reddy, SUDA Chairman K. Narendar Reddy, and MLC candidate Narendar Reddy, along with former legislators and senior party leaders.
