Hyderabad: A moment of panic ended with relief and gratitude as Tukaramgate Police recovered a bag containing gold jewellery worth around Rs 3 lakh lost by deaf siblings and returned it to the family after tracking them with CCTV footage, all thanks to a good samaritan who found the bag and handed it over to the police.
As per reports, the siblings were returning home on their two-wheeler after taking tuition classes in Secunderabad when they lost the bag. The siblings went home unaware that the bag contained the jewellery, which was kept by their mother, who had forgotten about it.
Meanwhile, a passerby named Ankit found the bag on the road and handed it over to Traffic ASI Jaan on the same day. On checking, police found about 2.5 tolas of gold chain along with other expensive items in the bag.
To trace the owners, police examined footage from over 60 CCTV cameras and based on the footage, they identified their bike number and collected their details.
Since the victims could not speak over the phone, police contacted them through WhatsApp. It was then found that the siblings' parents were also speech and hearing impaired.
After verifying the items in the bag and the victims' details, police called them to the station. Tukaramgate CI Bashir Ahmed and Crime Inspector Ahmed handed over the bag to the family, much to the relief of the family.
