TSUTF Flays Deductions from May Salaries

The union said deductions were made from both spouses, even though earlier rules required only one contribution when both were government employees. Clarity on dependent family members was also missing.

Hyderabad: Members of the Telangana State United Teachers’ Federation (TSUTF) condemned the finance department for deducting 1.5 per cent from employees’ May salaries as EHS contribution before the Employees’ Health Scheme (EHS) rules, hospital agreements, package rates, digital health cards and government order were finalised.

TSUTF state president Chava Ravi and general secretary A. Venkat demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister cum state’s finance minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, should intervene immediately and stop the salary deductions.

“The modalities of the Employees’ Health Scheme have not been finalised. No agreement has been reached with hospitals. Package rates have not been decided. Digital health cards have not been issued,” they said.

The federation said finance department officials had earlier replied that the health department would issue the rules, but deductions were made before those rules came out. It also questioned changes to the IFMIS site till the previous day, although employees and pensioners were asked to upload family details by today.

The union said deductions were made from both spouses, even though earlier rules required only one contribution when both were government employees. Clarity on dependent family members was also missing.

Employees accepted partial contribution because corporate hospital treatment had become costly, TSUTF said, "But the 1.5 per cent deduction without transparency had created suspicion."
