Trump’s Actions Unsettling: Nageshwar
Trump undermines global peace: Nageshwar

Hyderabad:Former MLC and academic K. Nageshwar criticised US President’s Donald Trump’s approach to global affairs, saying his actions do little to foster peace and primarily serve corporate interests. He was delivering a memorial lecture on “What kind of world is Trump creating?” to mark the ninth death anniversary of Dachuri Rami Reddy, former MLC and teacher union leader.
The event, organised by the Telangana State United Teachers’ Federation, was presided over by UTF state president Chava Ravi. Dr Nageshwar described Rami Reddy as a leader driven by a deep public purpose and said their association remained unforgettable. Analysing Trump’s foreign policy, he said it undermined global harmony and reflected a transactional mindset.
Dr Nageshwar noted that the United States initially believed Russia would collapse under pressure in the Ukraine war — a miscalculation, as Russia not only held its ground but also captured territory and strengthened alliances. Trump’s call for peace, he said, came only after this shift in geopolitical reality, not from any conviction.
Dr Nageshwar argued that the growing closeness between Russia and China had rattled the United States, and Trump’s renewed overtures to Russia aimed to curb China’s economic ascent. He warned that Trump’s tariff regime and deal-based diplomacy prioritise the interests of American capital alone. A global pushback may be on the horizon, Dr Nageshwar said, as alternative currencies and new international blocs begin to emerge. He concluded that Trump’s efforts are geared towards maintaining US dominance, not preventing global conflict.
