Tripura Governor's phone also tapped during BRS tenure

HYDERABAD: In a new twist to the unauthorised phone-tapping case, the investigating agencies have found out that Tripura Governor N. Indrasena Reddy’s phone was reportedly tapped for 15 days in November 2023 during the BRS tenure.

This matter came to light when the authorities questioned Reddy's OSD Narsimhulu, reliable police sources said.

Narsimhulu informed the special investigation team (SIT) probing the phone tapping case that Reddy was using the same phone number for 14 years. Along with it, his other phone was also tapped, a senior SIT officer told Deccan Chronicle.

Indrasena Reddy was appointed Tripura Governor on October 26, 2023. The BRS lost power in the Assembly elections held a month later, on November 30.

When the phone-tapping case came to light it was presumed that only phones of Congress leaders were tapped on the instructions of former SIB chief T. Prabhakar Rao, while his accomplices were also party to the crime. Now tapping of phones of senior BJP leaders are also coming to light during the investigation, police sources said.

As the OSD looked after all the matters related to Indrasena Reddy, it is likely that he will be made a witness in the phone tapping case.
