Tripartite Pact to Boost Agri-Biotech Startups

The programme aims to nurture emerging agri-biotech ventures through incubation and institutional collaboration

HYDERABAD: A tripartite agreement was signed at ICAR–National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Hyderabad, under the BioNEST co-incubation programme to support agri-biotech startups. The pact involves a-IDEA at NAARM, ICAR–Indian Institute of Rice Research (IIRR), and selected participants including Ventas Biosolutions LLP and an individual incubatee.

Dr Ranjit Kumar, CEO of a-IDEA, said the programme aims to nurture emerging agri-biotech ventures through incubation and institutional collaboration. Dr Kalyani M Barbadikar of IIRR explained that startups were chosen after evaluation.

NAARM director Dr Gopal Lal stressed the importance of innovation and institutional support in strengthening the startup ecosystem, while IIRR director Dr R Meenakshi Sundaram highlighted the role of research-based incubation in agricultural development.

The selected teams presented their ideas and technologies to be developed with support from NAARM and IIRR. Officials said the programme seeks to foster collaboration between research institutions and startups, driving innovation in agriculture.
