Transport Dept Books 219 Private Buses During Sankranti Checks
The violations included transporting goods in passenger buses, failure to maintain passenger lists, and the absence of mandatory first-aid boxes: Reports

HYDERABAD: The transport department said it had booked 219 private buses from January 7 for rule violations, in intensified enforcement drives ahead of the Sankranti festival-related travel rush.
The violations included transporting goods in passenger buses, failure to maintain passenger lists, and the absence of mandatory first-aid boxes.
Inspection teams have been deployed in all districts, with eight special teams operating in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts. The transport department warned private bus operators against collecting exorbitant fares and cautioned them not to operate contract carriages as stage carriages.
The department said guidelines on the operation of sleeper buses would be issued shortly. Sleeper buses registered in other states but operating in Telangana will be inspected, and strict action will be taken against vehicles found violating rules.
