Trafficking case: Fate of four rescued kids hangs in the balance

Hyderabad:The fate of the four children, including two girls, hangs in the balance since being abandoned by their parents. Rescued by the Chaitanyapuri police from the clutches of traffickers, and handed over to CWC (Child Welfare Committee) officials, the four ‘adopted’ children are now in a shelter house even as legal procedures are underway.
A source said “The children will remain in the shelter home till the time the biological parents are identified and traced. On failure to establish this, the police will wash their hands off mentioning that the parents were not found. In such an eventuality, the children will be put up for adoption.”
Even as there are complaints that the police are hardly making any efforts to trace the biological parents, the fact is that they are clueless as regards the whereabouts of the prime accused Vandana.
“When an LFA (Legally Free for Adoption) notice is issued, details of the children along with their latest medical examination reports will be uploaded on the CARA website for the convenience of couples waiting for adoption. It is only after complying with a full-fledged selection process, and a month’s pre-foster monitoring by CWC personnel can they go ahead with the adoption process,” the source said.
Meanwhile, the fate of the 15 kids who made it to the CARA website after Medipally police rescued them last May also remains dicey.
The issue took a new turn when childless couples who were cleared to adopt the 15 children filed a petition with the High Court seeking custody of the kids. Three of them have also approached the Supreme Court
