Traffic Restrictions Imposed on Ikea-Cyber Towers Stretch After Road Cave-in
Commuters travelling from Ikea towards Cyber Towers and JNTU were advised to follow the notified diversions or use alternative routes.

Hyderabad:Cyberabad police have ordered traffic restrictions on the Ikea-Cyber Towers-JNTU stretch in Madhapur to repair a road subsidence near Cyber Gate three days ago.
Commuters travelling from Ikea towards Cyber Towers and JNTU were advised to follow the notified diversions or use alternative routes. Traffic from Ikea will be diverted at Lemon Tree Hotel and Raidurgam Metro Ral Station via Tech Mahindra to CII Junction towards Cyber Towers, and thereafter proceed towards JNTU through the regular route.
The cave-in occurred between a fuel station the Shilparamam, a high-traffic zone connecting the IT corridor, according to Madhapur traffic inspector Sridhar Kumar. Police initially barricaded the affected portion and to facilitate repairs, and the road closure was ordered on Monday.
An underground Manjeera water supply pipeline developed a leakage, which gradually seeped into the surrounding soil. The leaked water reportedly mixed with drainage flow beneath the road, leading to erosion of the base layers. This weakened the sub-surface structure, resulting in road cave-in.
“Continuous water seepage washed away the soil support beneath the road. When the drainage water mixed with it, the ground lost its strength, causing the surface to cave in,” the Inspector explained.
Upon noticing the damage, departments concerned were alerted and repair works were taken up. The damaged pipeline was rectified, and the affected road stretch was excavated, refilled, and resurfaced. Officials said the repair work is also completed and the road is currently undergoing a curing period.
Though traffic restrictions remain in place, traffic volume is low due to the Sankranti holiday season. “By the time commuters return after the holidays, the repaired stretch will be ready for regular use,” the inspector said.
