Hyderabad: In an effort to create awareness about the adverse effects of using nylon manja for kite flying, a traffic policeman demonstrated its dangerous nature by showing how it can make deep cuts using a cucumber. The traffic cop questioned the need for nylon manja, saying, “Couldn’t you use a normal thread for flying a kite? Why use nylon manja?”.
He also advised people to use normal cotton thread instead of nylon manja, stressing that the latter poses serious risks to public safety. He explained that nylon manja can cause severe injuries, including deep cuts to the neck of two-wheeler riders.
There have been several incidents reported in which nylon manja has led to fatal injuries, especially to bikers, prompting authorities to repeatedly caution the public against its use.
